This Experiment Will Make You Think Twice Before Eating Apples
It’s safe to say you should definitely watch this video first, before you eat another apple.
Did you know that most of the apples found at the grocery store are sprayed with wax? Producers coat apples with wax to preserve the fruit, but many people are disturbed by just how much wax there actually is. In this video, we poured boiling water on a bunch of store-bought apples. After letting them sit, a white wax begins to appear on the skin.
If the thought of ingesting this waxy substance makes you queazy, there’s a simple and quick trick to remove it. To clean off the wax, you’ll need baking soda, lemon juice, lukewarm water and some elbow grease. Watch the tutorial below for a surefire way to ensure that no wax will come between you and your delicious apples.
Make sure you always clean your fruits and vegetables really well — especially if you have young kids in your care — and consider buying organic or local produce whenever possible.
