What you can do with orange peels?
Most of us take oranges traditionally. Usually we peel and eat them, and we throw the peel. But, orange peel can be used in countless ways. We bring you two great ways verified.
Grind 60 grams of orange peel and place in a jar. Pour a glass of vodka or 40% alcohol over the grounded peels. Close the jar tightly and leave it to stand for one week in a dark place. Consume one spoon of the mixture after meals, along with a teaspoon of honey. It cures the cough and cleanses the throat.
Peel the oranges and save the peels. Put them in a pot, cover with 300 – 400 ml of water and add 1 teaspoon of salt. Boil the peels and after the water boils pour it, and keep the rinds. We do this in order to extract the bitterness of the peel.
Boiled peels cut into thin sticks. In another pot, combine 400 g sugar and 400 ml of water and let the mixture to boil until sugar dissolved. Add the prepared rinds and all simmer for 30 minutes or until the rinds become slightly transparent and you get very thick syrup.
Orange peel not only adds a nice flavor to your food but it makes a very good tasting tea. Orange, tangerine and mandarin peel teas are traditionally used for coughs that are due to excessive phlegm in the lungs. It is a good tea to drink if you have lots of mucus, chronic chest congestion or a wet cough. Citrus peels are considered a valuable medicinal herb and are a popular ingredient in many Chinese Medicine tonics.
